The Specialist Exfoliation Treatment
1 FL. OZ / 30ML
The Specialist is a trio of 18% mandelic acid, 2% salicylic acid, and 5% niacinamide that work together to tackle your oily skin woes. This is best used as a spot treatment or a T-zone rinse-off mask.
This acid booster was designed to give you the freedom to integrate as you need it into your routine. This treatment doubles as a spot treatment and wash off mask, the Specialist is at your service!
The Specialist is tinted blue using a natural colorant derived from sweet potato and gardenia. To minimize irritation, this product is completely fragrance and essential oils free.
The Specialist features a trio of actives that have specifically been tailored to target oily skin concerns. This formula can be used as a spot treatment, mask, or even as a booster for a daily pick-me-up.
18% Mandelic Acid: Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) representative. More gentle than glycolic and lactic acid, yet still able to penetrate deeper to clean out pores.
2% Salicylic Acid: Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) salicylic acid is known for its anti-microbial, pore-clearing exfoliating action
5% Niacinamide: A multi-functional workhorse. Niacinamide is one of the few ingredients out there that reduces the appearance of pores, regulates sebum production, AND boosts skin barrier function over time.
The Specialist's signature blue color is created using a blend of natural flower and sweet potato extract. The formula is EO and fragrance free.
*Full Ingredient List: Butylene Glycol, Mandelic Acid, Water, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Ethoxydiglycol, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Extract, Anthocyanin (Ipomoea Batatas Root Extract), Hydrolyzed Gardenia Florida Extract Maltodextrin
Skin is smoother and product is very well tolerated! I just apply it to the tzone and follow with aquafix. Bravo.
I purchased my tube of The Specialist in early 2020 (January or February) and have been using a generous drop (sometimes TWO drops, because I live life on the edge) mixed in with a hydrating serum every other night (on other nights I use a retinol). In the last year+ of using this, I have noticed two changes in my skin. First, the (admittedly mild) intermittent acne I would sometimes get has totally cleared up; I think I've maybe gotten one pimple this past year (caveat: it was 2020, so my homebound face wore less makeup and likely absorbed less city pollution). Second, the rough skin I had on my chin and nose (which I had been trying to scrub away with physical exfoliants) has totally disappeared. Over a year later and it seems like I might finally be coming to the end of the tube (though, I have thought that for the last month, yet the tube keeps giving me drops!) - will definitely be re-ordering this when I do! In this year when everybody has Gotten Into Skincare it's easy to get too caught up in trends and new products and feel like you have to blast away your face with the strongest acids available to get Results, but really, just a drop of this (mild) puppy every other night does the job for me!
I love the specialist. Not sure if I am using it right though. I have mild seb dermatitis and it has helped a lot manage sebum balance and itching. But I wonder if I am using too much or too often. I mix with my aquafix daily, two pumps aquafix with specialist equivalent of 2-3 lentil grains.
This is my second tube of The Specialist. I don't know that I'll ever stop using it - it's that good. Plus it lasts a LONG time so it's well worth it.
Now I know how it feels to use a non irritating AHA that’s not glycolic acid!!
